Took a short break from roofing to attend the largest trade show in Florida for the industry and it did not disappoint. The Gaylord Palms Orlando is an amazing venue (which the family got to enjoy too) and it was great to catch up with some of our favorite companies and people who help make our roof repair business a reality. Some of our favorite stops of the day:
All Points Tile & Slate
All Points Tile & Slate may single handedly be our most important resource as a tile roof repair specialist. In literally 1000’s of jobs and over a decade’s worth of work we have always been able to find a matching tile at All Points. This is so critically important for our work because we hear from customers everyday “I am not sure this roof can be fixed because my tile is discontinued”… we are not sure who is pushing this lie but the truth is any contractor or home owner can find the tiles they need to repair there roof. Northmen Roofing couldn’t be more thankful for the amazing team at All Points Tile & Slate.
Tremco
The “Rolls Royce” of roof coating products. Tremco specializes in roof top pool coatings and parking garage floors which makes them eminently qualified to waterproof balconies and terraces. Northmen Roofing exclusively uses the Tremco product line for our Balcony and Terrace Waterproofing specialty.
ABC Supply
Our trusted and go-to local roofing material supplier. The feeling must be mutual because we are also the roof repair service provider at the Maitland, FL location.
Tri-County Metals
Northmen Roofing preferred metal supplier for our in house metal shop.
Kennedy Skylights
Kennedy Skylights is local to Sanford, FL and provide the only skylight Northmen Roofing will install. Nothing beats a local manufacturing facility that you can personally visit and meet the owner and team. The skylights are very high quality and we have never once conducted a roof leak repair on any Kennedy Skylight installation.
OSI
If a roofer is not using the OSI RT-600 tile roof epoxy then they are not using the correct product. This is the only acceptable product to use on any crack or broken tiles and is an acceptable epoxy to hold down ridge/hip caps. Northmen Roofing should consider buying stock in this company with how much product we use for tile roof repairs!
O’Hagin
The standard for tile roof vent systems is O’Hagin. If you see an in-profile attic vent on a tile roof in Central Florida you can bet it is an O’Hagin tile roof vent. Like some of our other suppliers, we will not install complete a tile roof vent installation or replacement without an O’Hagin product.
Lowmanco Vents
While we do not necessarily specialize in shingle roof systems, there are some complex repairs that are required. Due to material shortages a few years ago home builders got a waiver to install inadequate off-ridge vents that are not built to withstand driving rain and leak. The only remedy is removal and installation of a proper “shingle-over-ridge-vent”. Lowmanco provides the only shingle shingle-over-ridge-vent we install and this demonstration shows exactly why. They utilize engineered ducts which pull hot air from your attic and expel better than any other on the market which keeps your attic cool and dry.
Milwaukee Tool
Milwaukee Tool is the preferred cordless tool brand of Northmen Roofing. They have served us well for many years but we must say the Dewalt cordless nailer sure is an appealing option for a roofer! Waiting very (im)patiently for Milwaukee to develop a great cordless nailer to assist in our roof repairs.
Tile Roof Industry Alliance
Sets the nation wide industry standard for tile roof systems. We incorporate there installation manuals into our training guides and provide these resources to our customer to further educate them on the maintenance requirements of tile roof systems.
Gaylord Palms Orlando
Last but not least, Owner Travis and General Manager Dean attended the show and stayed at the Gaylord Palms. The wives and kids LOVED the water park and thoroughly enjoyed the atrium. Enjoyed a rare night off together and had an amazing dinner at MOOR which has a sail boat inside the atrium of the hotel with fish swimming under you.
